A VIKSIT BHARAT REQUIRES A SAKSHAM BHARAT

For the past several years, Ajay Gupta’s Saksham Yatra Podcast has been bringing forth inspiring stories of and from changemakers who are shaping India’s future. The on-ground Saksham Yatra is a natural extension of that effort, where the conversations that began in the studio now move onto the streets and towns where India’s entrepreneurial spirit truly lives.

Rooted in India’s enduring heritage of grassroots entrepreneurship and enterprise, Saksham Yatra celebrates those who are creating value in their communities while contributing to the larger vision of a Viksit, Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Led by the angel investor for startup businesses, Ajay Gupta, the Yatra seeks to listen to the stories of India’s local enterprise builders and strengthen the inclusive spirit of entrepreneurship that has long been woven into our country’s civilisational fabric.

Further, this first nine-day journey marks only the beginning. In the months and years ahead, new editions of Saksham Yatra will travel to different regions of India, continuing the mission.

WHY THE SAKSHAM YATRA JOURNEY MATTERS

Next-Founders-icon
The Next Founders Are Emerging Beyond Metros
India is now the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world, but not many know that the majority of new founders still emerge outside metropolitan cities.
Grassroots-Innovation-icon
Grassroots Innovation Often Goes Unnoticed
Many breakthrough ideas originate in smaller cities and local communities, but these innovators often lack mentorship and access to early funding.
Early-Support-icon
Early Support Can Change a Startup’s Future
Most startups struggle during the first three years, when capital and networks are limited. Through Kamyab Grants, Saksham Yatra strives to bridge the gap.
Stronger-Economy-icon
Inclusive Entrepreneurship = Stronger Economy
Millions of persons with disabilities in India remain underrepresented in entrepreneurship, so inclusive platforms like Saksham Yatra are of utmost importance.
Entrepreneurship-Powers-icon
Entrepreneurship Powers India’s Future
Enterprise has always shaped India’s growth. We seek to reconnect this heritage (from ancient trading guilds and craft clusters) with India’s modern startup movement.
Ecosystems-Grow-icon
Ecosystems Grow Through Collaboration
Entrepreneurs succeed when institutions and investors work together. So, conversations between founders, students, and ecosystem builders across cities are a must.

SAKSHAM YATRA TIMELINE

This first edition of Saksham Yatra travels across some of North India’s most historic centres of learning and enterprise. Each Saksham Yatra stop becomes a space for conversations with entrepreneurs, community builders, institutions, students, and innovators working within their local ecosystems. As part of on-the-ground Saksham Yatra, select early-stage entrepreneurs will also receive Kamyab Grants after a structured application/pitching/review process.

WHY THE JOURNEY BEGINS IN AYODHYA

Saksham Yatra begins in Ayodhya, with a visit to Ram Lalla Temple.

In the Ramayana, Lord Rama’s journey was not simply a physical passage across forests and kingdoms. Instead, it was a journey of commitment to a larger purpose, steeped in the ideal of duty. And believe it or not, journeys in India have always carried that deeper idea. Journeys are not just about reaching a destination. They are rather about rediscovering ideals and values along the way.

In many ways, India’s entrepreneurs are themselves on a similar journey, where they begin with limited resources, face uncertainty, learn through experience, and continue building despite setbacks. And the only thing that sustains them is conviction.

Through the nine-day Saksham Yatra journey, Ajay Gupta, in turn, seeks to honour that conviction with Ayodhya as the starting point.
